Dusting Off, Getting Out

Wednesday, April 16, 2025

My unridden bike is all dusty.
I'm glad that it's dusty, not rusty.
And once that I clean,
This much loved machine,
I'll ride on this bike that's so trusty.

What pursuit are you dusting off?

First outside ride on
My Bike
Is a big deal.

Stationary bike keeps some
Muscles strong .. and is unchanging
Except for whatever story I'm reading.

Start of my outdoor season
Marks what feels like my real riding.

Round of cleaning results in joy of first outdoor ride!

Riding that takes me
Past, through, in and out of
All sorts of views, smells, experiences
That are parts of rural riding.

Even rethinking traffic.
Tractor on the road,
Slow-moving, seeming to lumber.
Surely I can pass it.

Clockwise from upper left: Yipee—going to ride outside! Patch of Scilla, local sign of spring, Peggy Prowe Bridge—important to so many bikers and walkers.

But do I ride faster than a tractor?
Absolutely not.

I just think of myself as
Flying down the road.

Certainly I don't think of myself as
"Slow-moving, seeming to lumber.”

Positive mental picture—
Always helpful.

Here's to satisfying
Miles on my bike,
And to "miles" on your
Newly dusted-off pursuit.

Hugs,
Lin

P.S. I find Dylan's company mission statement so inspiring:

We believe in the great potential held in each of our seeds: nourishment of our people and communities; economic vitality for the rural Midwest; connection to ancestral wisdom; and the resilience and healing of Earth in a time of unprecedented change.

That's a passionate pursuit!

Lin…a wonderful rhyme message; good to see the bike ready to go; grandson’s company provides hope!

I agree – it is great to be back to riding outdoors. It looks like Bob is riding to. Wonderful.
I remember once biking past a horse drawn wagon.
