Different Routes

Almost magical tunnel of green, right outside my door.

Wednesday, September 17, 2025

I nearly got lost while out riding.
A walker was good at providing
Directions for me.
I took time to see,
What this new bike scene had been hiding.

Do you explore different routes?

I biked an unusual route today.
Slower, out a different direction,
Through a newer section of town.

Well, probably not new,
Trees were substantial.
New for me on my bicycle.

Coming to the end of bikeable pathway,
I asked a walker how I could loop around
To arrive in front of what I knew as landmark.

He was the only walker I'd seen.
There he was in a place where
I needed directions.

Good, clear directions, just what I needed
Led me through "new" territory,
Back to my landmark.

Leisurely riding, I noted:
End of season flowers,
Autumn colors creeping into trees.

Clockwise from left: Bob with walker in front of autumn leaves and church, Sumac red and bike, Autumn yellows among my favorites.

Noticing and appreciating ...
Important at any time.
Maybe especially this morning,
As I had started to dismiss
My ride as too short to count.

It did count / matter.

I took time to look.
I asked for help,
And had a good time.

I don't much like riding in town.
Unusual for me.

This ride ...
Excellent reminder that
Slower, fewer miles,
Noticing and appreciating,
Are good choices and
Expand life's richness.

May you enjoy different routes, pace, scenery.
Expand experiences.
Fun!

Hugs,
Lin

In-town zinnias ... perfect autumn color.

  1. Yes, every ride is a meaningful one. We’ve had many “short” rides (<30 miles) here in Canada but those are the ones that allow for leisurely starts and taking time to appreciate the beautiful scenery including early signs of autumn.
    We miss you.
    Hope
