Day 4 of Mankato to Madison Ride

When met with a sign saying "detour,"
One juggles what's said with the allure,
Of making it through.

But it might be true,
You'd find yourself stranded, so be sure!

Celebrating creative wayfinding!

Northfield -> Red Wing by bike. Biking Mileage 39, I had 38.7
Red Wing -> Rochester, MN by van

Out of Northfield about 15 miles,
Our  "to-be-ridden-road" had “Detour” sign.
Hope, Margaret and Nancy went ahead,
Finding ways over muddy area in Randolph.

John and I continued on in our straight line.
I flagged down a pickup truck,
Asked where road led. "Cannon Falls.”
I knew we would pick up Cannon Valley Trail there—
Perfect.

We continued on into Cannon Falls
Where we ate cafe lunch.
Route we took missed official SAG truck lunch.

Quick Library stop then
Cannon Valley Trail all the way to Red Wing.
Great ride conditions with sunshine;
Wind at our backs.

Clockwise from Upper left: Trail Sign, Detail of Donor plaques on Cannon Valley Trail,
John photographiing plaques, my wonderful Salso bike on great trail. Great fun!

At Red Wing trail head,
Met Ken and others.
Bikes loaded into van .
Shuttled to Rochester.

That shuttling was to get us back on
Schedule for remainder of trip.
Extra weather-related day in Northfield
Required change.

We are at a motel that connects with restaurant
"Famous Dave's.”
We'll eat there.

I am rooming with Hope tonight.
Great day!

I am so glad I am riding this trip.

Hugs,
Lin
