Our condo entry, everyday decor.
Removing what decked the "halls cheery"
May bring up an image of dreary.
I see those bare bones,
Shown in their true tones,
As Lovely ... my upbeat-view-theory.
Where are you enjoying “bare bones beauty?”
Soon after New Year's Day,
It turned out to be "Undecorating Day.”
In our small condo,
That was minimal task ...
Size of our condo,
Yet primarily because we had
Minimal decoration.
In the ten years since moving
To Village On Cannon,
I've pulled out only a few items
Marking Christmas.
Stylisted wooden creche,
Made by Bob from pattern shared
By Ross Shoger.
Ten-inch high fabric Christmas tree
Acquired in Indonesia during our year there.
This year we had two strings of lights.
Lindy was here to put those in place.
In days when we had all children at home,
Rule was that all Christmas decor
Had to be down by January 3,
To make decorating space for
David's birthday, January 4th.
I guess we still meet that timing.
In the Village building, extensive.
Lovely Christmas
Trappings came down today.
Many folks to help
Made that task go quickly.
Now spaces are back to their
Usual unadorned look.
I'm choosing to name that as
Return to calmness.
"Bare bones beauty.”
The steadiness of
Daily views.
I'm taking a big breath,
Beginning to think of
Finding a piece of paper
On which to write miles ridden.
(Stationary bike)
Taking the stairs to my condo.
Noticing days lengthening by
Only a few seconds.
Being grateful for our interior hallways—
Flat, dry surfaces.
I'm noticing that
My new year is underway.
I have that privilege once again.
Our 2026 year is here.
May you notice its
Beautiful bare bones.
Hugs,
Lin
