Alliance, NE to Gering—by Scott's Bluff, NE: 52 miles
July 5, 2016
Today's limerick:
Geological sculpting through many years,
Created this landmark for pioneers,
We're seeing Scott's Bluff.
You'd have to be tough,
To come on a bike or as wagoners!
Afternoon biking on Oregon Trail, Pony Express route,
Historic.
Bob and I have said,
"It would have been hard to trudge along side the wagon."
True.
Played the wind this early morning,
With Bob taking me 30 m south.
I flew / biked back east to Alliance.
Breakfast at Alliance "Ken and Dale's"
Where waitress said,
"You look like you might be from out of town".
True.
Afternoon road cracked shoulder.
Clunk, clunk.
Front tire, back tire hitting pavement cracks,
Every fifteen feet.
Constant attention and wearing.
Once again, ninety degrees
On arrival at motel.
So very glad to get in and cooled.
Right now,
Rain has started for predicted storm.
High wind, heavy rain.
Grateful, grateful for this shelter.
All well here.
Hugs,
Lin
Approaching Scott's Bluff
Pony Express Monument
Super-Biking-Beak out west
Abandoned architectural relic... unexpected and out of place
Winding up the day's ride on the Old Oregon Trail
Every surface serves more than one purpose! Laundry a la Lin.

Hi Lin! You missed quite a storm here in Northfield last night. Electricity off for several hours. Keep pedalling with that smile on your face (even if it is hurting…)!
Irene
Electric storms are one thing I don’t want to pedal through! Hope all is well there.
Everything is fine here but itwas my first experience in Northfield of a big storm.
Glad all is well.
Did I ever say you are a amazing woman!
Aw… Thank you, Judy! I blush…
I’m a little slow in reading up on your adventures, but i think this is the part where i say; “Yeah… I’ve biked the Pony Express trail –backwards on a unicycle. No, its only Scott’s bluff.”
–> “Lin’s punny” just for my mama dear 😉
Ride on you modern day pioneer!!!
I hate to say it, son, but you are a chip off this Mama-block! Your encouragement tastes sweet. Thank you!
