Winter Break to Seattle

Speaker Working Retreat: Jan 24—27

Hello Friends,

I have taken a (non-biking) winter break to Seattle.
Chilly with some green,
No ice or snow,
Seemed hopeful.

Met (daughter) Lindy at retreat type hotel.
Lovely surroundings
Facilitated positive time.

Actually working vacation;
Lindy helping me sort bike trip
Timelines, memories,
Bike talk tweaks and improvements.

Amazing experience
Having listener focused on
My experiences.
Encouraging my stories,
Laughing with my memories.

Seldom do any have
Committed listener
Ready to soak up
Words of joy and fears.

Such a gift.
May I remember to
Give it to others.

An evening break gave us time
With grandson Earnie and s.o. Kali.
Wonderful visit as they
Shared verbal pictures of their
Seattle lives.

Time flew.
Travel ate up two days.
Three shared days
Were a privilege.

Back in Northfield
Stepped off bus
Onto ice.
Still ... good to be home with Bob.

Sending love,
Lin

P.P.S. One theme that emerged
During memory storytelling
Is my need for and appreciation of simplicity.

Lindy fascinated by
Packing techniques I use to
Facilitate this need.
She insisted on pictures.

My suitcase: nearly packed, everything separated so I can find it simply and easily.

Lindy and me waiting for Seattle Light Rail (Sound Transit)—so easy and convenient!

Kali, Earnie, and "GramaLin"

this is what I use for packing shirts and other carefully folded items

Smaller folded items here...

Old fashioned "shoe mittens" for simple and tidy shoe packing. (Small items sometimes packed inside shoes)
