Northern MN: Day 11

Nisswa, MN—40 miles

Tuesday, June 27, 2017

Last biking day for this adventure...

Scenic, circuitous, car drive this morning,
To Nisswa.

Memorable spot,
Right on Paul Bunyan Bike Trail.
Also home location for Stone House Coffee
And their excellent scones!

We made Stone House our first stop,
Finding something G.F. for Bob.

Northbound ride on trail
Parallels highway nearly half way to Pine River.
Bit noisy.
Still, out of traffic.
Great biking resource.

Many of you remember that
I've searched and sampled pie,
During long bike trips.

Seldom do that now,
Since Ruth asked how often I found
Pie as good as I can make.
Answer was, "Hardly ever.”

Last two days I've sampled sweet rolls,
Caramel or cinnamon.
As I often eat gluten-free along with Bob,
Wheat-flour roll-sampling is special treat.

Out of my very small research pool,
I found basic roll dough at
Birchwood Cafe, Aitken, MN
Best I've had this trip.

Pine River's Cozy Cottage Corner Café
Roll dough a close second place.

This is research “to be continued.”

Today is final day for biking trip.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, June 28,
We will drive to Northfield.

I'll let you know of our safe return home.
Many thanks for being with me.

Hugs to each and all,
Lin

Limerick:
Right there in the trail was a froggy,
Which looked kind of sleepy and groggy.
We saw it go "hop,”
And heard it go "plop,”
When landing in space wet and boggy!

All-important first morning stop after drive from Aitken.

Storehouse Coffee—next to bike shop in Nisswa, MN

Roadside iris in boggy areas—Mary McLaughlin, my mother, called them "flags." Thinking of her with love...

Trail "denizen"... turtle safely across trail.
